Rohit Sharma addressed the media for the first time since the ODI World Cup ahead of Team India’s 1st Test against South Africa on December 26.
Rohit Sharma talked about the heartbreaking World Cup final loss to Australia and looked forward to the Test series in order to reward himself and his team with ‘something big’.
When asked about some information leading into the T20 World Cup 2024, Rohit said, “Desperation is always there to play good cricket. Everybody wants to do well. Whenever we get opportunity, we want to do well. Everybody is keen on it. I know what you are trying to say. Milega, aapko jawab milega uska (you will get the answer to it soon).”
With Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah returning to the fray after an extended break from cricket, the players were seen sweating it out in the nets ahead of a challenging red ball series against The Proteas.

With Rohit leading the team in both ODI and Test formats, it will be interesting to see whether the 37-year-old will lead Team India in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 or not.
Team India have never won a single Test series in South African conditions and will have to put their best foot forward in terms of scripting history in South Africa.
With pacer Mohd Shami, wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad missing out on the red ball series due to different reasons, Team India won’t be going with all of their fire power but will still pose a threat to the home team with Jasprit Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja looking to outsmart the Protea batters in Centurion.
“This is a big series in itself. There is a lot of history. If we are able to achieve something, it will be good for the team. Kuch bada humko chaiye. Everybody is desperate for that, not just the senior players. I hope we do well in the series, we have the tools to do it. We have to try and have fun. We want to play freely,” Rohit added.
