The year 2024 has been mixed for Indian captain Rohit Sharma. The start of the year happened for him when he was suddenly replaced as the captain of the Indian Premier League franchise Mumbai Indians. On the other hand, he ended up winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 title as the skipper of the Indian team whereas the end of the year wasn’t as per his expectations. The latter has been a constant flop with the bat in Tests and his captaincy has been under the radar as well. The Indian team ended up losing to New Zealand in the three-match Test series at home by 3-0 whereas they are currently trailing in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy by 2-1.

Rohit Sharma’s Emotional Goodbye To 2024
Rohit Sharma has only managed to score 31 runs from the three Tests as of now and there are speculations that he will retire from international cricket after the Sydney Test. Rohit shared an emotional post on his official Instagram handle reflecting on the ups and downs that he had in 2024. The post read, “For all the ups and downs, and everything in between, Thank you 2024.”
The Indian team is almost out of contention from qualifying for the finals of the World Test Championship 2023-25. Team India must win the fifth Test match in Sydney and rely on Sri Lanka to beat Australia in the two-match Test series, which will make them a way for making it into the summit clash of the WTC.
