Two players who have defined Indian cricket in the recent years with sensational records and performances, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have become a household name for Indian cricket fans.
The thought of the two players not being there in the starting eleven in the years to come will never be taken lightly by the country. However, with the T20 World Cup 2024 in June, it seems like all focus will be shifted to T20Is.
As per the current Team India schedule for 2024, Team India will only be playing 3 One Day Internationals this year. Apart from the ODI series against Sri Lanka, the Men in Blue won’t be featuring in the 50-over format this year.
With the BCCI focusing on bringing on young talents in the team, there is a strong possibility that Virat and Rohit might be deciding to retire from ODIs this year.

Both players have stellar ODI records for India. Virat Kohli has scored 13,848 runs in 280 ODI innings, averaging 58.67 in every game.
Rohit Sharma on the other hand, has amassed 10,709 runs in 254 ODI innings, averaging almost fifty in each game.
ODI World Cup 2023
Both batters had performed well in the recent ODI World Cup which took place in India with both of them finishing as the top 2 leading run scorers of the tournament. While Virat Kohli topped the charts with an impressive 765 runs in 11 matches, Team India skipper Rohit Sharma also managed to score 597 runs in the tournament.
Finding their replacements will be a big ask from the board despite of young batters Shubman Gill and others trying their best to produce the numbers these players are producing over the years.
