New Delhi: Roger Federer surprised his fans on Thursday, September 15, by announcing his retirement from tennis. Federer, who has won 20 Grand Slams, has decided to retire at the age of 41. Roger has not competed since Wimbledon in July 2021. Meanwhile, he has had several knee operations.

Federer has won 20 Grand Slam titles and the Swiss player said that the upcoming Laver Cup season will be his last ATP tournament. He has played more than 1500 matches in 24 years, although the last three years proved to be a struggle for his tennis life.

Federer won his first Grand Slam title at Wimbledon in 2003, while last title was at the Australian Open in 2018. Since then, he was constantly trying to return to the court, but could not succeed.
