On Day 3 of the Perth Test between India and Australia on Sunday, India’s wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant got stumped by Alex Carey in Nathan Lyon’s over. Pant came to the crease as No.5 after Yashasvi Jaiswal’s dismissal in the 94th over.
Knowing Pant’s duel with Lyon, Aussie captain Pat Cummins brought the off-spinner into the attack in the 96th over. Pant fell into the trap as he tried to show aggression and charged down the wicket off the very first ball. However, Lyon cleverly bowled the delivery wider and had Pant stumped.
Pant is known to dominate Lyon and their duel makes for an entertaining contest in Test cricket. Therefore, his dismissal to Lyon trigged a reaction wave on social media X.

“Rishabh Pant doesn’t want to waste his energy scoring when India is in a comfortable position,” wrote one user.
“Rishabh Pant will not perform when the pitch is easy, the team is comfortable, the bowlers are tired. He leaves those runs for others to feast on. And just when team is in trouble, bowlers are breathing fire, pitch is unplayable, bro will pull off a heist out of nowhere,” posted a second user.
“Rishabh Pant is like I don’t waste my talent and efforts in batting in easy situation like 300/3. Give me 30/4 and I will show you who I’m,” said a third fan.
Meanwhile, India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed his maiden Test hundred on Australian soil. Jaiswal got out after scoring a majestic 161 off 297 balls. His innings included 15 fours and three sixes. He stitched 201-run partnership with KL Rahul for the first wicket to bring Team India into a decisive position in the ongoing Test.
