Rinku Reveals Reason For Absence
Rinku Singh, Kolkata Knight Riders’ key finisher, was absent from the field during Tuesday’s match against Rajasthan Royals at Eden Gardens, sparking concerns about his fitness. Following KKR’s loss in the game, Rinku disclosed that he was nursing a minor injury, which prevented him from fielding.
“I have a bit of a niggle. That’s why I have not been able to field. In the next match, which is on April 21, I will field,” Rinku told the press.
The extent of the injury remains unclear, leaving KKR fans anxious about his availability for the upcoming matches. However, Rinku assured fans that he would be back on the field for the next game.
Rinku On Lack Of Chances
Reflecting on his limited opportunities with the bat this season, Rinku reminisced about the five sixes he smashed in the final over bowled by Yash Dayal.
“That day was my day. It was a very good feeling (5 sixes in 2023). But, in this season, I have not been able to get a lot of chances to bat. The top-order batters are doing very well, for instance, Narine today. Whatever opportunities, I get, I will try to score in them,” Rinku added.
Rinku’s lack of chances this season can have consequences for him as other young Indian batters might be looking to pip Rinku in the minds of the selectors who will be announcing the squad for Team India during the latter stages of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024).
