The relentless rain has had the final word — the match has officially been called off. After a 10-day break in this IPL season, fans were eagerly waiting for some high-octane action tonight, but unfortunately, the weather had other plans. It's especially heartbreaking for the fans who showed up in white jerseys to honour Virat Kohli, following his recent announcement of retirement from Test cricket. This means "KKR IS ELIMINATED FROM IPL 2025!"
The persistent rain has had the final say — the match has been called off without even a toss. Fans were eagerly looking forward to some high-octane action, especially with the IPL returning after a 10-day break, but unfortunately, the weather had other plans. It’s especially disappointing for the crowd that turned up in large numbers, many wearing white jerseys in a heartfelt tribute to Virat Kohli following his recent announcement to retire from Test cricket.

With both teams sharing a point, RCB have strengthened their chances of making the playoffs and have now climbed to the top of the table. If either DC or PBKS lose tomorrow, RCB will officially seal their spot in the playoffs.
On the flip side, tonight’s washout ends the road for defending champions KKR, who are now officially eliminated from playoff contention. Their campaign was marked by inconsistency, and they never quite managed to build momentum.
Not quite the post-break restart fans were hoping for, but that’s the nature of the game. Tomorrow brings a thrilling double-header, so gear up for an action-packed day of cricket.
KKR will be knocked out.
Assuming there are no further washouts, the only scenario in which RCB could miss out on a playoff spot with 17 points is if GT and MI both finish with at least 18 points (or more, in GT’s case), leading to a three-way tie involving PBKS and DC. In that case, qualification would come down to Net Run Rate (NRR). This situation could unfold if PBKS and DC both win tomorrow, DC beats PBKS later, and MI wins both their remaining matches. While RCB currently has the best NRR among these teams, the margin isn’t significant.
However, RCB will qualify if either PBKS or DC lose tomorrow.
The rain has picked up again and seems like the game is on a verge of abandonment.
The rain has eased to a light drizzle, and the crowd has come alive with loud chants of "RCB!"
It's raining harder now. But we still have some time before we start losing overs, which will happen from 8.45pm. Cut-off time for a five-over match is 10.56pm.

I just think last time (2024) we were winning games, we won a lot of games which is very important in a tournament like IPL. This time we were winning one, we were losing one. The whole tournament has been like that.
Josh Hazlewood is the only RCB player yet to join the squad, as he continues his recovery from a shoulder niggle back in Australia.
Rajat Patidar had batting sessions on two separate days leading up to the match. According to Mo Bobat, RCB's director of cricket, the brief break in the season aided the recovery of the hand injury Patidar picked up during the previous home game against CSK. Phil Salt also had extended batting sessions and came through well, having missed the last two matches due to illness.
The drainage at the Chinnaswamy is excellent, as we all know, so play should resume fairly quickly once the rain stops. The rain has eased a bit, but it’s still falling steadily.
🚨 Update 🚨The toss has been delayed due to rain. Stay tuned for further updates.#tataipl | #rcbvkkr pic.twitter.com/AQzBqFNV6M

Feeling good, haven't played since a while. Pretty excited to be back. It (power-hitting) is not the thing, I try first during my practice sessions. More than anything else, it's the basics of batting. I am making sure I am aligned and hitting the ball where it comes from. Definitely one of those things I do regularly, in every training session. Just try to stay on top of it. The enjoyment's in everything it takes to get there.
I always think back to moments like these (when I do well in the training session). I always think about the basics I have put in before I go into a game. It's all about discipline. There's a sea of people here at the Chinnaswamy, you see it when you come through, we got unbelievable home support here. Every game we have that must-win mentality. It's pretty infectious what comes from the fan base.
It's a case of winning three more in the group stages and see where we end up from there. We have not spoken much about it (Virat Kohli's Test retirement), Virat isn't someone to speak about it (at this moment.) It's all about the playoffs and group stages, that's the focus.
It’s a very good feeling to be a part of this amazing tournament and quick turnaround for us after a week or so, we are here, excited to play some games. (On the break before the restart) It breaks our momentum but we are professionals and we are used to travelling from one country to another and we are used to play the next day so mentally I know how to switch on and to switch off for the last couple of days, it helps us mentally and it helps me as an individual to reflect and take a break.
But, the moment I came to practice two days ago and start hitting and making sure the body is up and running again, it has to do with a strong mindset. It’s easy when you have the mindset, you might be coming off two losses, we are made for this, we look about the future and think about the next game coming up. We have the mindset to be on the par when the team needs us, we as a team are up for the challenge.
A few games before the break, I find my mojo and I have been getting opportunities to bat a bit earlier and once I bat earlier, with the batters behind coming me, I know I can be dangerous. Yesterday in practice, I hit the ball very well, I hit two out of the park. There might be some rain around but we are prepared to play our best cricket, we need the two points and hopefully, we will come out with a win tonight.

68 meters on one side, 62 on the other and 74 meters down the ground. Early in the tournament, fast bowlers were having a field day here. But this pitch looks like a batting paradise. Very very little moisture. It looks dry in general but it is sealed and beautiful. Expect runs to flow. (The pitch report was done before it started raining and the covers came on).
