Following the lead of Indian captain Rohit Sharma and alongside Virat Kohli, India’s top all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has declared his retirement from T20 internationals following India’s victory in the T20 World Cup 2024, defeating South Africa by 7 runs at Kensington Oval in Barbados.

The all-rounder posted on his official Instagram handle, announcing his retirement from the shortest format with a concise message.

‘With deep gratitude, I announce my retirement from T20 internationals. Like a dedicated horse racing with pride, I’ve consistently given my all for my country and will continue to do so in other formats. Winning the T20 World Cup was a dream come true, the pinnacle of my T20 international career. Thank you for the memories, the cheers, and your unwavering support.’

Ravindra Jadeja the spin-bowling all-rounder has made significant strides since joining the team under the leadership of MS Dhoni. However, he struggled to find his form in the recently concluded tournament.

Since his debut against Sri Lanka in February 2009, he has accumulated a total of 515 runs in 74 matches and has captured 54 wickets in T20 cricket. His standout batting display occurred against England in 2022, where he smashed 46 runs off 29 deliveries, pivotal in their 49-run victory. His best bowling figures came against Scotland in the 2021 T20 World Cup in Dubai, where he claimed 3/15.
