Ace Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin bid adieu to his international career after the IND vs AUS 3rd Test played in Brisbane. Ashwin who was Team India’s second leading wicket taker in Test cricket after Anil Kumble served the nation for around 13 years. While addressing the post-match press conference after the IND vs AUS 3rd Test, Ashwin announced that the match he will retire from international cricket after the match. The latter picked up 765 wickets from 287 international matches which includes 37 five-wicket hauls and eight ten-fers.

Ravichandran Ashwin’s Father’s Shocked By His Son’s International Retirement
Ravichandran Ashwin has reached India after his international retirement, however, his move shocked his fans. R Ashwin’s father, Ravichandran stated that he had felt that the Indian all-rounder will continue playing for the senior team. He said while speaking to Network 18, “I too came to know (about his retirement) in the last minute, actually.”
R Ashwin’s father also alleged that his son might have been humiliated. He added that his retirement is his son’s decision and they can’t interfere in that. Ashwin’s father said, “Retiring is his wish and desire, I cannot interfere in that, but the way in which he gave that, there could be many reasons. Only Ashwin knows, maybe humiliation. No doubt about it (emotional moment for the family) because he was on the field for 14-15 years. The sudden change, retirement, gave us really kind of a shock.”
Ravichandran Ashwin will continue to play first-class cricket and club cricket, which will include representing the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League 2025.
