Ravichandran Ashwin, the Indian spinner, recently hit a huge milestone in cricket by getting his 500th test wicket during the 3rd test against England. He’s now one of the cricket greats, just the second Indian to achieve this and the ninth worldwide. Since he started playing in 2011, Ashwin has been a big deal in Indian cricket, especially in home matches where he’s taken 347 wickets.

What’s cool is that he got to 500 wickets pretty fast, only the second fastest in terms of matches played and balls bowled. It took him 25,715 balls, just a bit behind Glenn McGrath. Ashwin did it in his 98th test, faster than Anil Kumble who took 105 matches to reach 500 wickets. Srilankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan holds the record for getting there the quickest, doing it in 87 tests.
