Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been among the brightest aspects for the India national cricket team in the ongoing IND vs AUS Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 series. Bumrah has picked up 18 wickets in the series as of now and registered his second fifer during the third Test match being played in Brisbane. The latter has been the lone performer for the Indian team with the ball in Adelaide and Brisbane as of now, and will need some support from his fellow bowlers if the visitors want to leave an impact. The ace-Indian pacer was praised by the former England cricketer and commentator Isa Guha. Isa was on air on Fox Sports and had praised Bumrah as the ‘Primate’ of Indian cricket.
Isa Guha Apologises After ‘Primate’ Comment On Jasprit Bumrah
Isa Guha said, “MVP – Most Valuable Primate. He is the one that’s going to do all the talking for India and why so much focus was on him in the build-up to this Test match and whether he would be fit. He needs some support though.” Isa Guha’s comments sparked a debate as she had racially abused Jasprit Bumrah by using the word ‘Primate’. However, just before the start of play on Day 3 of IND vs AUS 3rd Test, the former English cricketer apologised for whatever she said.
She said, “Yesterday in commentary I used a word that can be interpreted in a number of different ways. I’d like to apologise for any offence caused. I set myself really high standards when it comes to empathy and respect of others. If you listen to the full transcript I only meant the highest praise for one of India’s greatest players. And someone that I admire greatly. I’m an advocate for equality and someone who has spent their career thinking about inclusion and understanding in the game.”

Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri praised Isa Guha on air and added that to apologise on live television takes some steel and she is a brave woman. He said on Fox Cricket, “Brave woman, to apologise on live television takes some steel. You heard it from the horse’s mouth so as far as I am concerned, game’s over. People are entitled to make mistakes. We are all human. In the heat of the moment, sometimes when you have the mic in your hand, things can happen. Let’s move on.”
The India vs Australia 3rd Test Day 4 will begin from 05:20 AM IST (Indian Standard Time) on December 17, 2024.
