In the first Semifinals of the Ranji trophy which is scheduled from 17 February to 21 February in the Narendra Modi Stadium A Ground, Ahmedabad, history was made by Mohammad Azharuddeen when he scored a century against Gujarat on day 2. He became the first batter from Kerala to smash a century in a Ranji Trophy Semifinals.

Picked Up The Innings
During the 126 over, Azharuddeen took a single to the mid-off and completed his century in 177 balls. Gujarat’s Siddharth Desai was on the balling end in the 126th over. This was his second century in first-class cricket, his first century came 7 years ago. With his century the team got to a steady point at 316 for 5 wickets. When he came to bat Kerala was struggling at 157 for 4 wickets.

Time With RCB
Azharuddeen was acquired by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in a 2021 auction at a base price price of 20L but could not be featured in any of the franchise’s matches. He caught the eyes of the RCB selector after his 137* innings off 54 against Mumbai in 2021 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
