Prithvi Shaw
After moving from Mumbai to Maharashtra this season, Prithvi Shaw was looking for a fresh start in domestic cricket. But things didn’t quite go his way. The right-handed opener was dismissed for a duck in his first innings, marking a disappointing beginning to his new chapter. But after first innings, in the next innings, he made a gritty 75.
Shaw, who has been working hard to revive his red-ball career, will be eager to bounce back in the upcoming matches. His aggressive batting style has often made him a match-winner in the past, and Maharashtra will be hoping he finds his rhythm soon.

Ishan Kishan
In contrast, Ishan Kishan enjoyed a perfect start to his Ranji campaign. The wicketkeeper-batter smashed a brilliant 173 for Jharkhand in the first round, reminding everyone of his batting prowess. Kishan, who took a break from international cricket earlier this year, looked in excellent touch and showed patience along with his trademark attacking strokes.
His return to form is good news not just for Jharkhand but also for Indian cricket, as Kishan continues to push for a comeback to the national side.
Karun Nair
Making a return to his home state Karnataka, Karun Nair began the season on a solid note. The experienced right-hander scored a steady 73 in his first match, showing glimpses of his classic timing and technique.
After moving back from Vidarbha, Nair seems comfortable in familiar surroundings and will aim to continue this consistency throughout the season. A strong Ranji campaign could put him back in contention for higher honors.
A Season of Redemption and Opportunity
The opening round of the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 has already set the tone for what promises to be an exciting domestic season. For Shaw, it’s about rediscovering form; for Kishan, it’s about proving his red-ball credentials; and for Nair, it’s a chance to remind everyone of his class.
