India Seeks New Head Coach After Rahul Dravid’s Tenure Ends
Following the culmination of the ICC World Cup 2023, the two-year tenure of India’s head coach, Rahul Dravid, has come to a close. Appointed in 2021, Dravid’s contract has now expired, necessitating the swift appointment of a new head coach for India’s cricket team. While VVS Laxman is currently serving as India’s coach in the series against Australia, his role is not permanent. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has recently provided a significant update regarding India’s coaching position.
Whom did BCCI Approach for the Coaching Role?
Initial expectations were that VVS Laxman might transition into the permanent coach role after Rahul Dravid. However, BCCI seems to have revised its plan. Earlier speculations surrounding Kumar Sangakkara potentially taking up the coaching role have also been dispelled. BCCI has re-extended the offer to Rahul Dravid to assume the position of India’s coach once again. Despite India’s World Cup loss under his coaching, BCCI has reiterated its confidence in Rahul Dravid.
Rahul Dravid’s Response Following Tenure Conclusion
As of now, there has been no official response from Rahul Dravid concerning BCCI’s latest offer. Dravid has returned home post the World Cup, expressing his desire to distance himself from cricket and spend time with his family. It remains uncertain whether Rahul Dravid will accept or decline BCCI’s proposal. Cricket enthusiasts eagerly await Dravid’s response to understand his plans. The imminent confirmation of India’s next head coach is awaited as the situation unfolds.
