Mumbai registered a place in the semi-finals of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024 by registering a six-wicket victory over Vidarbha. Mumbai chased down the target 222 runs with ease and ended up achieving the target with six wickets to spare. Mumbai batter Ajinkya Rahane top-scored with 84 runs from 45 balls whereas Prithvi Shaw played a knock of 49 runs from 26 balls. Shivam Dube also played an unbeaten innings of 37 runs from 22 balls.

Suryansh Shedge Shows Talent In SMAT
Apart from these renowned batters, Suryansh Shegde who played an unbeaten innings of 36 runs from 12 balls impressed the fans. Suryansh batted with a strike rate of 300.00 and smashed one four and four sixes during his stay at the crease. Suryansh was picked up by the Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League 2025 mega auction for a price of INR 30 lacs. Suryansh will look forward to perform once again with the bat for PBKS in the Indian Premier League 2025. Suryansh also played a knock of 30* runs from eight balls in the previous SMAT match against Andhra.

Getting back to the match, Vidarbha achieved a first innings total of 221/6 wherein Atharva Taide top-scored with an innings of 66 runs from 41 balls. Apoorv Wankhede and Shubham Dubey played knocks of 51* and 43 runs respectively and helped the team achieve a big score. Atharva Ankolekar, Suryansh Shedge picked up two-wickets apiece.

Chasing down the target, Mumbai openers Prithvi Shaw and Ajinkya Rahane added 83 runs for the first wicket. Shaw got out for a score of 49 runs and missed a half-century. After Rahane got out, Shivam Dube and Suryansh Shedge put up a match decising partnership and in the end helped Mumbai win the match.
