New Delhi: Athlete PT Usha has been chosen as the 16th President of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) on Monday. She is the first woman president of IOA. Usha will replace acting president Adil Sumariwala. According to the information, the last date for nomination for the President of IOA was 27 November. But none other than PT Usha filed nominations. After which he was elected the president. PT Usha is known as the Golden Girl.

Who is PT Usha?

PT Usha had secured fourth place in 400 meters hurdles in the year 1984. There was just 1/100 second gap between her and the third ranked athlete. The run was very controversial. Apart from this, after the disappointment of not winning a medal in the 1984 Olympics.

PT Usha went on to win 5 gold and a bronze medal in the 1985 Jakarta Asian Games. She won 4 gold and one silver in the 1986 Seoul Asian Games. During the year 1983 to 1989, she got a total of 13 gold in the Asian Track and Field event. By the end of her career, she had won 4 gold medals in the Asian Games and 14 gold medals in the Asian Championships.
