On March 14, Multan defeated Peshawar Zalmi, captained by Babar Azam, by 7 wickets in the qualifier match played in Karachi.
However, the match made headlines not because of its results. Instead this match came into discussion due to an interesting incident. Actually, during the innings of Peshawar Zalmi, Multan bowler Khushdil Shah was bowling the 11th over.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore was facing the last ball of this over, Babar Azam was on the non-striker. Khushdil bowled the ball, which Tom played towards deep fine leg. During this time, Rizwan, who was keeping wickets, took off his gloves and ran to catch the ball, then as soon as he threw the ball, it hit his own gloves. Which he had taken off and ran away.
On this the umpire added a total of 7 runs under penalty (2 runs escaped + 5 runs penalty). Since Rizwan’s throw hit his wicket-keeping gloves, these runs went directly to the account of Babar’s team Peshawar Zalmi.
Actually, the throw hit the gloves directly and as per the rules, the keeper cannot leave his gloves or any sports related item on the field. However, after this Rizwan was seen arguing with umpire Aleem Dar for a long time, but the umpire explained to him that all this happened within the rules.
