The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to clash with the Indian Premier League (IPL) next season due to scheduling adjustments by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The PCB has indicated that the PSL might be held from April 10 to May 25 next year, directly overlapping with the IPL, which ran from March 22 to May 26 this year, according to reports.

PSL Rescheduling because of International Commitments

Traditionally held in February and March, the PSL has been forced to shift its dates to accommodate a packed international calendar. Pakistan is set to host a tri-series, followed by the Champions Trophy and a tour by the West Indies next year. To avoid conflicts with these major international events, the PCB had to reschedule the league, making the overlap with the IPL unavoidable.

Impact on Players, Fans, and Broadcasters

This overlap is expected to have significant implications for players, fans, and broadcasters. The PSL and IPL are among the most popular T20 leagues globally, and their concurrent schedules could split viewership and sponsorship interests, affecting both leagues.

Plans for PSL Venues

In May this year, a meeting was held to discuss the plans for the next PSL season, which is likely to feature matches in Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi.
