PSG advanced to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals following their penalty shootout triumph against Liverpool in the round of 16 second-leg match at Anfield. The match in favour of PSG became 1-0 when regular time and extra time ran out and Dembélé scored the opening goal. The tiebreaker proceeded to penalties after regulation time and PSG handled the situation better than Liverpool because they successfully nailed all their four penalties but Liverpool failed. The match was decided by PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma who stopped two penalty attempts and led his team to a final score of 4-1 through the shootout phase to defeat Liverpool.
