New Delhi: India’s Priyansh and Aditi Gopichand Swami won the individuals medals at the World Archery Youth Championships at Limerick, Ireland on Saturday. Priyansh won gold medal at U-21 compound and Aditi won India’s 4th gold medal at U-19 compound.

Priyansh beats Aljaz Brenk
Priyansh thrashed Aljaz Brenk of Slovenia 147-141 in a one-sided men’s U-21 individual final in the ongoing World Archery Youth Championships here on Saturday. Priyansh added second medal to his tally as he won the compound U21 men’s individual gold to the mixed team gold he had won with Avneet Kaur on Wednesday.
Aditi wins 2nd gold medals for India
On the other hand, Aditi defeated United States of America’s (USA) Leann Drake 142-136 in the final of the compound U18 women’s individual event to clinch her second gold medals. Aditi alongside with Aishwarya Sharma and Ekta Rani won the compound U18 women’s team gold.
Priyansh’s performance
Former U-18 champion Brenk equaled Indian 29-all, shooting two arrows closer to the target on the opening round. A composed Priyansh, then came up with a perfect round of 30 as the Slovenian crumbled under pressure following the promising start in the first end.
Priyansh went on to build on his lead from a three-point advantage after the second end. After that, Priyansh went on to build on his lead and was 118-112 ahead before the fifth and final round.
In the end, Priyansh shot 29 each which was enough for him to claim the U-21 world title in compound section.
India’s hope for a third medal on Saturday evaporated when Avneet Kaur went down to Hallie Boulton of Great Britain in a shoot-off.
India’s medals tally
After a tied 138-all finish, Hallie edged out the Indian 10-9 in the shoot-off. Till now India won on nine medals that also include one silver and three bronze.
