Prithvi Shaw suffered a major setback during the Indian Premier League 2025 mega auction after he went unsold. The latter who was once compared with the likes of former legendary cricketers including Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Brian Lara, unfortunately has vanished from the selector’s eyes and IPL owners. The latter led the Indian team to win the 2018 U19 World Cup and also scored a hundred on his Test debut against West Indies. However, he was later hit by injuries and he developed a weakness of facing the inswinging deliveries.

Jwala Singh, who is majorly known to be childhood coach of Yashasvi Jaiswal, also trained Prithvi Shaw from 2015 to 2017. In a conversation with journalist Shubhankar Mishra on his official YouTube channel, the latter explained the reason behind his downfall and also opened on what is different between him and Jaiswal.
Jwala Singh said, “Prithvi came to me in 2015 and was with me for three years. When he came, he hadn’t played Under-16 cricket for Mumbai, and his father asked me to guide him. I worked very hard on him. He was talented from the beginning; I will not take full credit because many coaches have worked for him, but at that time it was only me.”
Jwala Singh said, “I think the process, which we call work ethic, so I feel if you are talented, talent is just a seed; to make it a tree, consistency is very important in that journey, and that consistency comes from your lifestyle, your work ethic, and discipline, so what I feel is that consistency is not with him. One can make a great start, which he did, but to stay at the top in international cricket, one has to improve his game all the time.”
Yashasvi Jaiswal has emerged as among the real match-winners for the India national cricket team in the recent time. Jaiswal has showcased brilliant potential by scoring runs for the Indian team and the latter once again proved himself with a stellar ton against Australia in the IND vs AUS 1st Test. On the other hand, Prithvi Shaw tried several times to make a comeback into the side, however, due to the risen competition into the side and his poor performances on the given opportunities.
