Mount set to wear iconic jersey
The 24-year-old English attacking midfielder will follow the legacy of legends such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Bryan Robson. The number seven jersey remained vacant after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo after he joined Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nassr in January.
But now Man United fans will see Mount to don this jersey and carry forward the legacy of the greats who wore it before him.
Earlier, Mount signed a five-year deal at Old Trafford that runs until the summer of 2028 and has the option to be extended by a further year.
Mount’s achievement with Chelsea
Mount became the first signing of the 2023/24 transfer window and ended his contract with Chelsea, where he won the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup, to an end.
Mount, who will wear the iconic jersey at United, said, “It’s never easy leaving the club where you grew up, but Manchester United will provide an exciting new challenge for the next phase of my career.”
“Having competed against them, I know just how strong a squad it is that I’m joining, and I can’t wait to be part of this group’s drive to win major trophies,” he added.
