Man City won the final Premier League game of the season with a tough 2-0 victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage. In the second half, Ilkay Gundogan jumped to catch an overhead pass and gave the visitors the advantage. Despite trying many times to draw level, Fulham lost once more as Erling Haaland converted a late penalty for Man City. Having won, City moved into third place, while Fulham missed out despite creating several good scoring chances.
Fulham’s Shortcomings
Despite creating some great chances, Fulham found it hard to score goals. The side was not composed enough in front of goal and both Cairney and Wilson missed good chances either directly or off target. They struggled to keep up with the opposition, who showed how clinical they were after Gündoğan scored a beautiful overhead kick and Haaland scored his penalty. Furthermore, their lack of discipline gave City the penalty they needed for even more advantage. At the end, the team showed they were inefficient by failing to use their lead and make Ederson work out more hard saves.

What Fulham Could Have Done To Win
Fulham had to take their chances more effectively and be tougher to break through at the back. They should have tried to put extra pressure on Manchester City’s way of building attacks to keep halting the influence of Gündoğan and Haaland. With sharper decision-making and a better place in the box when they attacked, Dusseldorf might have found the back of the net a few times. If they had been more careful to keep away from penalties, the fight could have gone on for a while longer. Introducing extra energy should have been done earlier, notably by swapping out some attackers, in order to defeat City’s defence and create more opportunities for Solskjaer to challenge the keeper.
