The ongoing drama surrounding the Asia Cup 2025 trophy shows no signs of cooling down. The silverware is still sitting in the office of Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who continues to insist that he will only hand it over to a member of the Indian cricket team and that too, preferably in a formal ceremony in Dubai.
However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly refused to agree to Naqvi’s terms, resulting in a complete deadlock between the two sides.
Now, the situation has taken an even more controversial turn after a video surfaced on social media showing Naqvi standing beside a man who made offensive remarks about India while discussing the trophy standoff.

In the clip, the man narrates the events following India’s victory over Pakistan in the Asia Cup final, praising Naqvi for not yielding during the post-match ceremony. He claimed Naqvi “showed patience” while the Indian team refused to accept the trophy, adding that since Naqvi also serves as Pakistan’s Interior Minister (Wazir-e-Dakhla), he “handled the team like terrorists” and took the trophy away himself. The man concluded by mocking India, saying the country is now “chasing the trophy.”
Throughout the speech, Naqvi neither interrupted nor objected to the remarks. In fact, he was seen smiling at several points, which has only added fuel to the controversy.
The Asia Cup trophy dispute – which began after India’s title win has now escalated beyond cricketing circles, creating diplomatic tension between the two cricket boards.
A possible resolution may come next month during the International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting, where officials are expected to discuss the issue and seek a formal settlement.
Until then, the trophy remains in Naqvi’s office and the standoff between the ACC and BCCI continues.
