India vs Pakistan is scheduled to be played on September 14

A PIL has been filed in the Supreme Court against the cricket match between India and Pakistan to be held on September 14. The petition states that after the terrorist incident in Pahalgam, the cricket match with Pakistan is not in the national interest.

The four petitioners have argued that India playing the cricket match with Pakistan in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor is against the national interest. Moreover, they contend that it belittles the sacrifices of the armed forces as well as the citizens who lost their lives in the attack.

The petition has been filed by four law students led by Urvashi Jain. According to the plea, cricket must not be prioritized over national interest, the lives of citizens, or the sacrifices made by armed forces personnel. The petitioners have also requested the implementation of the National Sports Governance Act, 2025. The plea was filed through advocates Sneha Rani, Abhishek Verma, and Md. Anas Chaudhary.
