In a major development in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, a PTI report states that the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) have come down from its stance of solely hosting the tournament in Pakistan and have agreed on the hybrid model. The report states that PCB have kept two conditions in front of ICC (International Cricket Council) in return of agreeing for hybrid model. The PCB wants an increased share in the PCB wants an increased its financial cycle share from 5.75 percent and the PCB chairman is pretty much insistent on it.

As quoted by PTI, a PCB source said, “The current situation is that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has said that it will only accept hosting the Champions Trophy on a hybrid model if the board agrees that in future all ICC events will be on same system with Pakistan not going to India to play matches.” Until 2031, India are set to host three major ICC events which includes the 2026 T20 World Cup, 2029 Champions Trophy and the 2031 ODI World Cup.
Earlier the Pakistan Cricket Board was pretty much adamant on its demand of solely hosting the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan and denied to accept the hybrid model. The preparations for the tournament are also in full swing and stadiums are being renovated. However, after India refuted to play the competition in the neighbouring country due to security reasons, everyday new or other developments occurred into the matter.
Finally, the ICC called a meeting of all the boards on November 29 which was postponed to November 30 after no result came up. However, now it looks like the matter is expected to get resolved shortly and the ICC is expected to look into PCB’s demands and the board may look into the demands of the Pakistan Cricket Board.
