Pat Cummins Tries His Hand In Acting! Says ‘It’s A Fun, Vibrant Way To Bring…’

Cummins, who is visiting the West Indies, showed his enthusiasm for the project. "Growing the game has always been very important to me.

Australia’s Test skipper Pat Cummins, famous for guiding his nation to a string of glorious wins, is now extending his love for cricket off the pitch as well. He’s providing his backing to “Snick and Willow,” a new animated series aiming to make children aware of the essence of the game of cricket in a playful, friendly, and fair way.

Made by Xentrix Studios, the series features the escapades of two cricket-mad children – Snick, an Indian lad, and Willow, an Aussie girl with a gift for fast bowling. The two set off on an around-the-world journey to retrieve misplaced cricket treasures and rescue their favorite neighbourhood club from the clutches of property developers.

Cummins, who is visiting the West Indies, showed his enthusiasm for the project. “Growing the game has always been very important to me. What Snick and Willow is doing is special – it’s a colourful and fun way to bring kids into cricket all around the world,” he said.

He’s particularly excited about Willow’s character. “Her story can truly make young girls fall in love with the game. That’s what makes this show so powerful – it can define cricket’s future in a really big way,” Cummins said.

Say hello to Willow – A Fast-Bowling Aussie Girl in India

Based on the creators of the show, Willow is an 11-year-old Australian female who has relocated to India with her father, Johnno Evans, who is coaching an Australian Rules cricket team in India. In contrast to the cultural change, Willow settles well with optimism and curiosity, applying her friendly nature in order to adjust fast.

The series’ website defines Willow as a person who handles both cricket and her new life in India with courage and vivacity – that is, a mirror image of what the series wants to bring to its young audiences.

Adventure Meets Cricket

The show combines cricket with mystery, comedy, and heartwarming life lessons. Although Cummins’s particular role in the show remains to be announced, he is a firm believer in the show’s message.

“Blending action, intrigue, and the virtues of sportsmanship, the series is targeted at children between the ages of 5 to 12 and their families. It aligns well with Cricket Australia’s youth engagement and diversity objectives established in their 2022–27 strategy,” he said.

A Cast Full of Characters

In addition to Snick and Willow, the show features a cast of offbeat and lovable characters. There’s PERCI — a cricket ball-shaped robot who’s full of stats, facts, and attitude. Other major characters include Batin and Balu, Sir Malik, Madam Chair Sunita, Coach Evans, and Snick’s cricketing friend Ajun.

With its multi-ethnic cast and international themes, Snick and Willow is more than simply another cartoon – it’s a tribute to the game of cricket’s universal appeal.
