On the last ball of the second session, Pat Cummins bowled a ‘peach’ delivery to dismiss KL Rahul. The ball pitched within the line of the stumps and went onto the clean up the Indian batter. Cummins forced Rahul to play down the wrong line and in the end had to walk back to the dressing room. Rahul has been one of the most successful batters for the Indian team in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as of now. The 31-year-old has shown brilliant technique till now and has been his key to success.

Getting back to the match, the Indian team needs to showcase some resistance in their first innings with the bat. Team India hasn’t registered a 300 plus score in the first innings from a long time and if they wish to make a comeback in the boxing-day Test top players including Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli will need to play a big knock. Kohli’s average has been brilliant in Melbourne and the latter registered a hundred when he played at the venue back in 2014.
