Australian skipper Pat Cummins may be out of the Champions Trophy 2025 due to injury. If the reports are to be believed, he is suffering from an ankle injury due to which he is unable to bowl. There are only a few days left for the Champions Trophy to begin, so in such a situation, his playing is also being questioned.
“Pat Cummins isn’t capable of resuming any form of bowling so he’s very unlikely to play, which would mean we need a captain,” Australia coach McDonald told SEN.
Cummins is currently battling an ankle injury. After the Border-Gavaskar 2024-25 series against India, he did not go on the Sri Lanka tour due to workload management. The absence of Pat Cummins can prove to be a big setback for Australia in the ICC tournament. Cummins is adept at bowling and captaincy as well as performing well with the bat. In his absence, Australia will now have to look for a new captain for the Champions Trophy.
