The 2024 Paris Olympics has officially kicked off, with 117 Indian athletes competing in 69 medal events across 16 sports. Among them is a notable participant who stands out both for her athletic prowess and her unique background. Shreyasi Singh, hailing from Gidhaur in Jamui district, Bihar, and the only legislator shooter in the country, is set to represent India in the Shotgun Trap event on July 30 and 31. The qualification round will begin at 12:30 PM IST, with the finals scheduled for the same time the following day, according to Paris time.
Singh’s qualification for the Olympics follows a distinguished career. She is the daughter of the late former Union Minister Digvijay Singh and former Banka MP Putul Singh. Apart from her achievements in sports, Singh is an active politician. She is a member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly and represents Jamui as a BJP MLA. Her sporting accolades include a silver medal in the Double Trap event at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games and a gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
