 Who is Manu Bhaker?

Manu Bhaker hails from Goria village in the Jhajjar district of Haryana. In the 2018 ISSF World Cup, she won two gold medals for India, becoming the youngest Indian woman to achieve this feat in the tournament. At the age of 16, Manu won two gold medals for India in the 2018 Commonwealth Games. However, she couldn’t win a medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics due to a malfunction in her pistol.

Now 22 years old, Manu has reached the finals of the women’s 10-meter air pistol event at the Paris Olympics 2024. Honored with the Arjuna Award in 2020, she has the opportunity to create history by winning a medal for India at the Paris Olympics 2024.

When and Where to Watch the Final Match

The women’s 10-meter air pistol (individual) final at the Paris Olympics 2024 will be held today at 3:30 PM at the Châteauroux Shooting Centre. Manu Bhaker is expected to perform even better in the final than she did in the qualification round, where she secured third place to enter the final. Brimming with confidence, Manu will need to deliver her best performance yet.

In the qualification round, Manu overcame the poor start of her fellow Indian shooters, igniting hopes for a medal in this event. She scored 580 points, securing third place, while Hungary’s shooter Veronika Major topped the round with a score of 582. The final will feature eight shooters competing for three medals: gold, silver, and bronze.

Manu Bhaker’s Opportunity to Make History

Manu Bhaker has the chance to create history by winning a medal in the final match. If she secures a medal, she will become the first Indian woman shooter to win an Olympic medal. So far, India has won a total of four medals in shooting at the Olympics, all of which have been won by male shooters. The last shooting medal for India was won by Gagan Narang in 2012, when he secured a bronze in the 10-meter air rifle event.
