India’s Para Javelin athlete Sunit Antil has won his third consecutive gold medal in the world athletics championships as he was able to clinch gold in the F64 class title today.
Adding to his already illustrious sports career, in which he has already won gold in the 2023 and 2024 editions, the 27-year-old also has two Paralympic gold medals that he won in the 2021 Tokyo and 2024 Paris. He is also the reigning Asian Paralympic Games champion.

Today, his winning throw stood at 71.37 meters.
India’s Pradeep Kumar was able to finish with a best throw of 42.72m while Tomas Soto edged past Rufat Khabibullin to claim the silver medal as the Kazakh thrower had to settle for Bronze. As per media reports, Sumit Antil had ambitions of breaking his own record and aimed to breach the 75m mark in Delhi.
However, the double Paralympics gold medallist admitted that the weather conditions will play a part in his ambitions today.
Antil was able to extend his lead to 22M with a throw of 68.4. The athlete went on to improve with a 71.37 m throw. He had set his eye on a new championship record and had plans to break his previous records in the final throw, but his last throw ended as a foul throw.

India’s Sandip Sargar also won a gold medal in the Men’s javelin throw in the F44 category with a throw of 62.82 meters today. Sandip Chaudhary, another athlete in the same category, also won silver with a throw of 62.67 meters.
