Australia will be under major pressure when they will play the second Test against India at the Adelaide Oval from December 6. The five-match series is currently led by India by 1-0 as they were able to register a massive 295-run win in the first Test. Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood, who ended up picking four wicket during the first innings of the first Test. Hazlewood has been ruled out of the IND vs AUS 2nd Test due to a side strain. However, former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar believes that Hazlewood got ruled out due to the statement he gave regarding the team environment after the Aussies lost to India in the first Test.

Josh Hazlewood was asked in the post IND vs AUS 1st Test press-conference on how will the Australian team come over the first Test defeat. Hazlewood looked irked with the question and said, “You probably have to ask one of the batters that question. I’m sort of relaxing and trying to get a bit of physio and a bit of treatment, and I’m probably looking mostly towards the next Test and what plans we can do against these batters.”
Writing in his column for Sportstar, Sunil Gavaskar mentioned that the panic in the Australian team management is palpable, Gavaskar also stated that Hazlewood’s statement also revealed the cracks in the Australian team setup. He said, “The panic in the Australian ranks is palpable, what with former players calling for heads to be chopped off and some even hinting at cracks in the Australian team after Josh Hazlewood’s media interview at the end of the third day’s play, where he suggested that it was up to the batters to now do something.”
Cricket Australia mentioned in the official statement that Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of the IND vs AUS 2nd Test due to a ‘side strain’ injury. However, Sunil Gavaskar questioned the time of the pacer’s injury which has almost ruled him out of the whole series. He added, “Now, a few days later, Hazlewood is out of the second Test and possibly the series too with a supposed side strain. Strange, that, since nobody had noticed anything wrong with Hazlewood at that media conference.”
Australia have never won a Test series at home after losing the first Test since 1969. The Aussies are under a lot of pressure with the Indian batters also coming into form. Indian captain Rohit Sharma needs to get back his lost touch and score some runs in the second Test in Adelaide.
