India once again had to face defeat by Pakistan in the Javelin Throw event. Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem clinched the gold medal at the Asian Athletics Championship that was hosted by Gumi, South Korea. While Nadeem claimed the first position on the podium, India’s Sachin Yadav managed to reserve the second spot for himself.

A New Rivalry Brewing?
Nadeem’s best throw of 86.40 metres helped him to put the gold medal in the bag for him, and this was also his maiden Asian medal and season’s best. India’s Sachin Yadav notched up his personal best for 85.16 metres, which helped him to claim the Silver medal. His compatriot, Yashvir Singh, threw his personal best of 82.57 metres and bagged himself the fifth position. Nadeem started slowly with a throw of 75.45 metres in his first throw, but soon gained pace and took his lead with a throw of 85.47 metres. Japan’s Yuta Sakiyama clinched bronze with a personal best throw of 83.75m.

Why Neeraj Is Not Playing In Asian Championship?
Many are in this dilemma that India’s golden boy, Neeraj Chopra, had not participated in the Asian Championship. Actually, Chopra has participated in both the Diamond League and the Janusz Kusocinski Memorial, where he emerged second in both events. Due to this, India’s star athlete has decided to skip the Asian Championship. Chopra breached the 90-metre mark for the first time in the Diamond League. Nadeem had earlier defeated Chopra at the Paris Olympics, where he threw a monstrous 92.97 metres in the finals and claimed the Gold medal, while Chopra fell short of a few metres with a throw of 89.45 metres.
