The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 match between the United States (USA) and Ireland, scheduled for Friday, June 14, was canceled due to rain and a wet outfield. As a result, the USA advanced to the Super 8 stage. This outcome eliminated the Pakistan team from the tournament. Additionally, Canada and Ireland were also completely knocked out of contention for the Super 8.
The match was scheduled to be held at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium in Florida, but rain caused the field conditions to deteriorate so much that the toss couldn’t even take place. The USA is the sixth team to qualify for the Super 8. India, Australia, South Africa, West Indies, and Afghanistan have already secured their spots in the playoffs. Thus, six teams have reached the Super 8 so far, leaving only two spots remaining.
It should be noted that the match between the USA and Ireland was washed out, resulting in both teams being awarded 1 point each. Consequently, the USA team now has 5 points and has qualified for the Super-8 stage. Even if Pakistan wins its final match against Ireland on June 16, it will only reach 4 points. However, there is a strong possibility that this match may also be washed out.

Currently, the Indian team leads the Group-A points table with 6 points and has secured a spot in the Super 8. The American team is in second place with 5 points and has also qualified for the Super 8. The USA achieved victories over Pakistan and Canada but suffered a defeat against India. Pakistan is in third place with 2 points, followed by Canada and Ireland.
The ground staff put in significant effort to prepare for the Ireland-USA match. The umpires carried out multiple surprise inspections of the field. At 10:45 AM Indian time, when the umpires inspected the ground, there were hopes that the match could proceed. However, it began to rain shortly afterward. Consequently, the umpires and match referee Javagal Srinath decided it was best to cancel the match.
