Former Pakistan fast bowler and current national chief selector Wahab Riaz faced criticism on Saturday for a poor fielding effort during the ‘World Championship of Legends’ match against arch rivals India in Birmingham. Riaz, who headed the selection committee for Pakistan’s squad in the recent ICC T20 World Cup in the Americas, was heavily trolled by Pakistan cricket fans for dropping a simple catch.

Pakistan Chief Selector Wahab Riaz Trolled By Netizens
Chasing PAK Champions’ imposing total of 243/4, India Champions were struggling at 169 for 9. In the last over, bowled by Aamer Yamin, Anureet Singh hit the ball high into the air. Riaz, who had ample time to position himself, ended up spilling the catch. Despite this, Pakistan Champions secured a significant 68-run victory over the Yuvraj Singh-led India Champions.

Riaz, visibly disappointed after dropping the catch, faced heavy trolling for his poor fielding effort. Despite not bowling out India Champions, Pakistan Champions completed a comprehensive win.
Riaz was appointed head of the selection committee by the PCB in November last year, replacing the legendary Inzamam-ul-Haq, who stepped down amid conflict of interest allegations. Under Riaz’s tenure, Pakistan failed to progress to the Super 8s of the T20 World Cup, with the Babar Azam-led side losing to co-hosts United States and India in the Group stage.
