Mohammad Rizwan’s exceptional unbeaten 171 on the second day of the first Test against Bangladesh was crucial for Pakistan‘s resurgence in the innings. His innings, which spanned 239 balls, played a significant role in Pakistan setting a formidable total of 448/6, leading to captain Shan Masood declaring the innings. Rizwan’s century, his third in Test cricket, was instrumental in lifting Pakistan from a challenging 16-3 to a commanding position, with Saud Shakeel also making a notable contribution with 141 runs.

As Rizwan made his way back to the dressing room after his remarkable performance, he had a touching moment with teammate Babar Azam. Rizwan playfully tossed his bat to Babar, who caught it with a smile, and the two shared a laugh. The Pakistan team gathered at the boundary to celebrate Rizwan’s achievement, and the playful interaction between the two cricketers quickly went viral on social media.

On the first day, Pakistan found itself in a precarious position at 16-3, but Rizwan, along with Saud Shakeel, orchestrated a remarkable comeback. The pair combined for a 240-run partnership, rescuing Pakistan from the brink of disaster and positioning them strongly.

After Shakeel’s dismissal, Pakistan had progressed to 354, with Rizwan adding an additional 44 runs alongside Agha Salman, who scored 19. When Salman was out, there seemed to be a push from the dressing room to accelerate the innings. Shaheen Afridi, coming in at this juncture, wasted no time, hitting a four and two sixes off 24 balls to score 29. Captain Shan Masood then decided to declare the innings, despite Rizwan’s unbeaten 171. This move sparked a debate on social media, with many questioning why Masood did not allow Rizwan to reach his double century. However, Shakeel, who is Masood’s deputy, clarified in the post-day press conference that Rizwan had been informed about the declaration an hour prior.
