New Delhi: The Indian team is expected to face arch-rivals Pakistan on October 15 in the official ODI World Cup later this year. The schedule was finalised and may have been announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC) last month, but one of the most iconic match of this year’s tournament could be heavily rescheduled.
Security problem due to Navratri
The date of the India-Pakistan clash could be changed as October 15 is the first day of Hindu festival ‘Navratri’, which is celebrated with Garba dancing throughout the night mainly in Gujarat. Local police had told the the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), that it would be difficult to handle the security at that time.
BCCI inform ICC
It is learned that, BCCI has informed the ICC about the situation, but no definite decision had been taken till now. BCCI is going to have meeting with all states, who are hosting the World Cup on July 27 before finalising the decision.
ODI World Cup schedule
In the original World Cup schedule, October 14 was set as the day of the double-header, with England playing Afghanistan in a day game in Delhi and New Zealand playing Bangladesh in a day game in Chennai.
India’s WC clash
Especially when New Zealand face Afghanistan in Chennai on October 18th, it’s not going to be a smooth transition. By the way, there are no plans for a triple header, and there will be two games in six days. India, who will open the World Cup against Australia on 8 October in Chennai. After that ‘Men in Blue’ will face Afghanistan before playing Pakistan on 11 October in Delhi, before taking on Bangladesh on 19 October in Pune was scheduled to fight.
Pakistan’s WC clash
Pakistan will face the Netherlands on the second day of the tournament on 6 October, Sri Lanka on 12 October also in Hyderabad, then India on 20 October in Bangalore before facing Australia in their fourth match. The rollout came about a month after BCCI announced its World Cup schedule, which itself was significantly delayed.

BCCI has yet to release information on when tickets for the match will go on sale, but fans and other parties have already booked flights and hotels in Ahmedabad for the match, making it a historic match. India vs Pakistan clash is one of the world’s most watched sporting events in the world.
