The rain shortened-match second T20I in Dunedin resulted in New Zealand’s dominant five-wicket victory which gave them a 2-0 lead in the five-match series against Pakistan. Finn Allen together with Tim Seifert managed to guide the chase when each scored 38 and 45 runs using their offensive batting style after the bowlers maintained firm control throughout the powerplay. Ben Sears combined forces with Jacob Duffy and Ish Sodhi to limit Pakistan to 135 for 9 even while Agha Salman scored 46 runs. The team obtained a manageable victory against Pakistan through their bowlers’ controlled approach along with powerful batting performance during difficult weather conditions.

New Zealand’s Bowlers Stifle Pakistan In Rain-Shortened Clash

The opening bowling combination of Jacob Duffy alongside Ben Sears then Ish Sodhi delivered an impressive performance to confine Pakistan’s batting performance at 135 runs in the 15-over match shortened by rain. A disciplined bowling performance limited Pakistan to build any momentum since Salman Agha’s 46 rescued the only resistance. New Zealand’s attack proved challenging for Pakistan because the visitors failed to generate acceleration during important phases after each wicket fell. Pakistan’s batting performance failed to create a real challenge during Khushdil Shah and Haris Rauf’s brief periods of economic bowling.

Seifert And Allen Power New Zealand To Dominant Victory

The aggressive performance of Tim Seifert and Finn Allen alongside New Zealand’s openers became a clear indicator that the match would end as a formality in the chase. Through 28 balls the two batters accumulated 66 runs that produced an ultimate victory during the powerplay. The chasing run became effortless as Seifert smashed 45 runs off 22 deliveries alongside Allen who scored 38 from his 16-ball inning. The Pakistani team fought back better during the second T20I compared to the opening match yet they lost to New Zealand due to their strong performance. As winners by 2-0 the home team moves on to Auckland in their next encounter because Pakistan needs a series victory to continue their participation.
