Novak Djokovic started his US Open 2025 campaign with a commanding win on Sunday against the American youngster Learner Tien. Djokovic defeated him in straight sets – 6-1, 7-6(7-3), 6-3 at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York. The Serbian is now chasing after a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam of his career as he faces America’s Zachary Svajda in second round on Wednesday, August 27.
Novak Djokovic Achieves Big Milestone
With this win, Djokovic has also achieved a big milestone – this is his 75th consecutive progression into the second round of a Grand Slam. No Open era male or female player has recorded this streak. Novak has now surpassed Tennis legends like Roger Federer, Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova.

Djokovic Shuts Down Retirement Talks
After the win against Learner Tien, Djokovic opened up about still having the “flair” to carry on and he indirectly shut down all the talks which were related to his retirement.

“I wish I had Learner Tien’s age when you come to the late 30s it’s about learning how to preserve the energy for what matters.
