The Asian Yoga Sports Federation has elected Nouf Al-Marwaai, the president of the Saudi Yoga Committee, for the presidency of the forthcoming term in a unanimous decision. Support from representatives of 15 countries underscores the growing weightage attached to Al-Marwaai’s influence in the yoga arena worldwide.
Attending the General Assembly in Dubai for the sixth time has brought Al-Marwaai immense pride and gratitude in being entrusted with such responsibilities by federation members. She stresses that this tremendous support towards her appointment is a reflection of the greatness of Saudi Arabia as an ever-important country in Asia, especially in terms of their nations’ experiences regarding growth and development within sports over the last few years.
Al-Marwaai said that Saudi sport receives solid support from the leadership of the country, which enabled many Saudis to hold key positions both at the regional and international levels. She thanked Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal, Minister of Sport and President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, for guidance and leadership which crowned her appointment.
On yoga, as a newly elected president of the Asian Yoga Sports Federation, Al-Marwaai is keen on developing yoga practice throughout Asia. She would like to increase the number of championships across regions, with the first target being people of all ages in any part of the world, regardless of background and experience.
Al-Marwaai’s leadership will be the new chapter of the federation and will bring guidance for improvements that increase yoga participation in Asia and deepen knowledge of how it benefits health and well-being.
