Earlier reports suggesting that newly named Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya might not be fit for the upcoming IPL 2024 season has been found to be untrue.
According to latest reports, the Indian all-rounder will not only be fit for the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League, but will also be available for Team India’s upcoming T20 series against Afghanistan.
The earlier news brought a lot of joy to Rohit Sharma fans who thought that the captaincy roles would not be changed back to the way it was which would have seen the ‘Hitman’ lead the Mumbai eleven once again.

However, the recent analysis of his injury concluded that he will reportedly be available for the white ball series against Afghanistan which is scheduled to start from January 11.
Hardik Pandya was bought by Mumbai Indians in an all cash deal from Gujarat Titans after he successfully took Gujarat Titans to their maiden IPL title in IPL 2022. He also led Gujarat to last year’s final where the team lost to MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings.
T20 captaincy up for Grabs
With Suryakumar Yadav ruled out of the series against Afghanistan due to injury, Hardik Pandya could be seen leading the Men in Blue in the T20 format. With Hardik and Surya out of the equation earlier, it was thought that Team India skipper Rohit Sharma might make a return in the T20 format and lead the team like he is currently doing in ODI and Test formats.
