India will be clashing against Australia in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 at the Optus Stadium in Perth from November 22. While Rohit Sharma is reported to miss the first Test, Jasprit Bumrah will be leading the Indian team in his absence. The Indian team has displayed a brilliant performance in Australia on the previous two tours and ended up winning the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. They will look forward on repeating the performance this time as well.
Star All-Rounder To Make Test Debut
As per a report by The Indian Express, Indian all rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy is expected to make his Test debut during the IND vs AUS 1st Test to be played in Perth. The report states that Perth’s Optus Stadium is expected to have good pace and carry which makes Reddy the perfect candidate to back his selection. The Indian pace bowling lineup consists of players such as Harshit Rana, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj Akash Deep excluding Jasprit Bumrah. Mohammed Shami, who made a return from ankle injury in the Ranji Trophy isn’t the part of the squad.
Since, Hardik Pandya is not the part of the Test squad, Nitish Kumar Reddy could be a decent candidate to fill in his shoes. Shardul Thakur tried to make his place in the Test squad as an all-rounder but at the end, he is more of a bowler than a batter, also, he is not the part of the current Indian team setup after he recovered from his injury.
