Neymar Jr: Having endured a poor period with Al Hilal, the Brazilian striker, Neymar has left the Saudi club and returned to Santos, his childhood club, in Brazil.
Last week, he left Al Hilal, moving to Santos where he has been given a six-month contract. He had managed only seven games for Al Hilal after getting injured. Despite earning astronomical wages, Al Hilal was left with no other option but to terminate the contract of this expensive player.
As Neymar returns to South American football, he has had to accept a major pay cut. According to reports, Santos will pay Neymar £135,507 per month, which translates to about £32,500 per week, or about Rs 1.45 crore per month in Indian currency.
This is a massive financial cut for Neymar. At Al Hilal, he was earning a tax-free salary of €1.5 million per week, around Rs 13.36 crore. His salary at Santos is an 89.14% pay cut.
Although Neymar accepted the salary reduction, his priority is to return to form and earn more game minutes. If Neymar can rediscover himself in this six-month deal, the 32-year-old might return to Europe with a much bigger paycheck next summer.
