Regarding the Kia Carens powertrain, we anticipate that the lineup of petrol and diesel engines will continue.

Kia is testing the facelifted Carens, with the updated MPV expected to launch in India next year. The latest images of the test mules provide the clearest view yet of the MPV’s refreshed design, which appears to draw inspiration from Kia’s new all-electric EV series of cars and SUVs.

Kia Coming With Update Carens In The Market

At the front, the headlamps have been redesigned with more angular units, featuring an upper LED eyebrow and a main unit positioned below, similar to the headlamps on the globally sold Kia EV5. Unlike the current Carens, these two elements form a single assembly rather than the split headlamp design of the current model. From the side, changes seem minimal, with the test mule sporting new alloy wheels.

At the rear, the Carens seems to have new light clusters and a redesigned bumper. The light units appear more squared-off, suggesting a design akin to those of the Seltos and Sonet. This includes new rectangular tail lamps connected by a full-width light bar.

Inside the cabin, Kia is likely to update the trims, upholstery, and feature list of the MPV. All the existing features such as the 10.25-inch touchscreen, Bose audio system, sunroof, ventilated front seats, and connected car technology are expected to remain, although the Carens might receive updates like a new digital instrument cluster similar to the one found in the Seltos and Sonet. The test mule also had camera modules on the wing mirror, indicating that top models may come equipped with a 360-degree camera.

Regarding the powertrain, we anticipate that the current lineup of petrol and diesel engines – 1.5 petrol, 1.5 diesel, and 1.5 turbo-petrol – will continue. All three engines are likely to be available with manual and automatic gearbox options.

Similar to before, the Carens will compete against rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and XL6.
