India’s javelin sensation Neeraj Chopra confirmed that he will look forward to testing himself against the best in the world in India. From the success of claiming a second straight Olympic medal with a silver-winning throw of 89.45 meters, Chopra revealed his disappointment at missing out on defending the gold he won at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

After turning in another brilliant performance in Paris, Neeraj Chopra said he would now like to see top international talent competing in India. Born in Haryana, this javelin thrower added that hopefully, one day, India would host such an event so he could live his dream.

‘It’s a dream of mine to compete with other international stars in India. Hopefully, there will be an international competition soon in India and I can do that,’ Chopra shared during an interactive session with fans, organized by the Olympics.

He also spoke about how he wants to adjust his throwing technique to increase his power. ‘As much as I would enter a new season, there is not much time to make any major changes in training or technique. I hope to improve in a few areas, especially the line of the javelin. I want to work on achieving the correct throwing angle to generate more power,’ he said.

Neeraj Chopra Fights Through Pain For Silver

Neeraj Chopra’s personal best is 89.94 meters, done during the Diamond League in Stockholm in 2022. He could only manage a season-best 89.45m in Paris, enough to win silver but not gold. Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem clinched first place with a staggering 92.97 meters to take the first-ever individual gold medal for his country and break Andreas Thorkildsen’s Olympic record.

After the record throw by Nadeem, Chopra felt he had nothing to lose and was going to give his best, no matter what the physical conditions were.

‘My body was not in the best shape, but when Arshad made that throw, I was motivated to push myself. I managed to hit my season’s best because I knew I had to deliver my best throw as the competition had become incredibly tough,’ Chopra explained.
