Musheer Khan’s two words spark fiery reaction from Prithvi Shaw – Here’s What Happened

During a practice match between Maharashtra and Mumbai, Prithvi Shaw scored a brilliant 181 but was provoked by Musheer Khan’s sarcastic “Thank you.” The words sparked a heated exchange, with Shaw visibly upset until the umpire stepped in. Both teams later confirmed the incident was over this brief but fiery moment.

Prithvi Shaw made headlines once again – but this time, not just for his batting. During a three-day practice match between Maharashtra and Mumbai at the MCA Stadium in Pune, Shaw got into a fiery on-field altercation with Musheer Khan, the younger brother of Sarfaraz Khan. The incident left players, officials, and fans stunned.

Shaw’s Blazing Ton Followed by Tense Moment

Shaw, who recently switched from Mumbai to Maharashtra, was playing against his former team for the first time. The match held added emotional weight, and Shaw delivered a powerful statement with the bat – scoring 181 runs off 220 balls. His innings was filled with flair and dominance, reminding everyone of his immense talent.

However, the mood changed quickly after his dismissal.

As Shaw walked back to the pavilion, Musheer Khan reportedly said “Thank you” in a sarcastic tone. That one word, seemingly harmless on the surface, didn’t sit well with Shaw. The 25-year-old batter turned around, exchanged heated words with Musheer, and even raised his bat in frustration, showing just how upset he was.

The situation escalated to the point where the on-field umpire had to step in and calm things down. Shaw eventually walked off, clearly still angry, and the match resumed.

Teams Downplay the Incident

Later, both Maharashtra and Mumbai team members confirmed to Cricbuzz that Musheer’s comment was the main trigger for the verbal spat. Maharashtra captain Ankit Bawne brushed it off, saying:

“It’s a practice match. They are all former teammates. Such things happen. It’s all okay now, and there’s no issue.”

Shaw’s Form Speaks Louder Than Words

Despite the controversy, Shaw’s form remains the real talking point. The former India opener has been in brilliant touch in the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament, using these practice games to gear up for the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2025–26 season.

In this match, opening the innings with Arshin Kulkarni, Shaw looked confident and composed. He brought up his century in just 140 balls, showing glimpses of the aggressive and fearless cricket he’s known for.

The Bigger Picture

While the on-field spat grabbed attention, Shaw’s bat did most of the talking. With a point to prove after being left out of the national team setup, he’s showing the kind of hunger that once made him one of India’s brightest young prospects.

Tempers may have flared, but if Shaw continues this form, selectors might have no choice but to take notice – drama or not.
