Former India and Chennai Super Kings captain, MS Dhoni is all set for the upcoming IPL season. The five-time IPL winner Chennai Super Kings team has now begun preparation for the new season. For this, superstar wicketkeeper-batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni has now arrived in Chennai and was seen in action at the practice session. Rumours were, that Dhoni might use a new bat for this season. He was seen swinging the new blade at the CSK camp.

Dhoni’s previous bats
Dhoni previously used a bat that had a ‘Prime’ sticker on it, the company owned by his childhood friend Paramjit Singh. Dhoni has also used stickers from SS and BAS, two of his biggest bat sponsors. Dhoni has also shown courtesy towards his supporters on various occasions. He used to play with one of the heaviest bats during his prime days and thus is expected to reduce his bat weight by 20 grams.
What does ‘Somi’ mean?
The new bat that the 43 years old was seen playing with, has a sticker ‘Somi’. Speculations have been revolving that the Somi sticker is the same as the owner of the ‘BAS’ brand that has always been Dhoni’s all time supporter. Somi Kohli, the owner of ‘BAS’ has always been by Dhoni’s side and this might be considered as one of his ways to express his gratitude as he did with his friend Paramjit, the owner of Prime Sports declining deals of crores over personal relations.
Dhoni to play as an uncapped player
Mahendra Singh Dhoni, with 5 IPL titles as captain, will be playing the game as an uncapped player in IPL 2025. Dhoni was retained by CSK for as little as 4 crore rupees prior to the mega auction. Dhoni is now batting only in the last 2 to 3 overs of the game in the past 2 to 3 seasons. Now the fans would be expecting that in the coming season, Mahi could be promoted for batting. Dhoni is already looking fit now.
