Surgery Recovery Could Impact Retirement For MS Dhoni
Dhoni will decide on his future course of action post-recovery. CSK was eliminated from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Playoffs following a heart-wrenching defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in a crucial match on Saturday.
This marks only the third time the five-time champions won’t feature in the IPL playoffs. The defending champions suffered a 27-run defeat at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. As Dhoni walked off the field after scoring 25 off 13 deliveries, speculation about his future intensified.
However, sources told IANS that Dhoni will make a decision about his retirement only after undergoing surgery in London.
Chasing 219, CSK stumbled in the middle overs after a shaky start. Despite Rachin Ravindra’s 61 and Ravindra Jadeja’s unbeaten 42, the defending champions couldn’t secure a win.
Although CSK finished their campaign with 14 points, the same as RCB in the league stage, they failed to qualify due to RCB’s superior net run rate.
As CSK concluded their IPL season, fans and experts speculated that this might be Dhoni’s final season with the franchise. However, the veteran has kept his plans private and returned home after the match on Sunday.
