After facing a crushing 9 wickets defeat from the Mumbai Indians at Wankhede on 20 April, Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni was seen upset after the match. He also pointed out the mistakes that cost his team the match and said they are looking forward to the next season as CSK’s comeback seems very difficult this season. The five-time champions Chennai Super Kings find the last spot on the points table by losing 8 of the 10 matches played.

“Those are the question marks we have got, few catches and that will help. Other than that we are just trying to plug in the holes, with all the games that are in front of us that we are supposed to win, we just take it one game at a time and if we lose a few, what will be important for us is to get the right combination for next year. You don’t want too many players getting changed, what will be important is to try and qualify, but if not get a secured 11 for next year and come back strong.” MS Dhoni said at the post match interview.
CSK’s qualification scenario
The Chennai Super Kings have just 4 points while all the top 4 teams already has 10 points. IN order to stand a chance to qualify for the playoffs, the Chennai Super Kings have to win all the remaining 6 matches comfortably. However, CSK will need to better on the NRR front too besides winning games. Chennai’s NRR of -1.392 ranks the worst of all 10 teams this season.
MI’s Batting Prowess
A double act of Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav defeated the Chennai Super Kings bowlers entirely and secured a 9-wicket victory after completing the target of 177 runs in 15.4 overs. Only South African player Ryan Rickelton fell to a CSK bowler as MI effortlessly swept the disputed match without losing any wickets.
